Gas & Electricity Prices

ESB

The ESB is the longest established, state backed electricity supplier in Ireland.

Recently however they've had customers taken from them by Bord Gais who, in 2009, began 'The Big Switch' campaign, signing up 100,000 of ESB's customers in a matter of months.

Airtricity

Airtricity (initially called Eirtricity) was the first energy provider in Ireland to produce mostly green energy, from wind farms in Ireland and overseas.

The founder, Eddie O'Connor, sold the business in the mid 00's, but it still provides a cheaper, greener alternative energy provider to the Irish market.

Bord Gais

Bord Gais was set up to provide Gas provision services to consumers and businesses by the state, but recently moved somewhat away from state control.

Bord Gais now provide electricity supply services, in direct competition to the ESB (see above), promising to save customers double digit percentages on electricity costs over ESB.
